The BART Foundation’s mission is to promote better outcomes for brain injury survivors by answering three questions – which alternative therapies are likely to work, where can they be found, and how can they be afforded? One of the ways we fulfill our mission is by carefully watching global research and clinical trial outcomes and sharing that information, in user-friendly language, with the TBI/ABI community.
We have recently identified four new books, published within the last few years, that may provide insight and information into some of the alternative therapies we advocate for. We are not endorsing these titles, but rather are suggesting them for individuals or families looking to educate themselves about options available for TBI/ABI treatment. These titles are widely available through online sellers and local libraries. We are not providing a direct link to any one seller but all the information you would need to search for the book online or request it at your library.
Concussions are a worldwide epidemic — 43 million cases are diagnosed each year. The good news is that there are effective treatments available today which reverse the symptoms of a concussion by correcting the underlying mechanisms of injury to the brain. The Concussion Cure is the first book that describes in detail how a concussion should be diagnosed and then treated. Both the diagnosis and treatments are based on the findings of two diagnostic tests which show functional abnormalities. In this comprehensive guide, Paul Henry Wand, MD explains how to treat recent concussions as well as those from years ago, and covers undiagnosed and untreated conditions which are often overlooked.
The FDA currently recognizes hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for 14 conditions, including decompression sickness, embolism, crush injury, bone infection, burns, wound healing, severe anemia, and several others. In The Oxygen Cure, hyperbaric expert William S. Max eld, M.D., will convince you that HBOT is a vastly underused modality that deserves to take its place among frontline medical treatments. As a holistic treatment, HBOT targets the underlying disease or condition, not just the symptoms. The Oxygen Cure reveals how hundreds of studies on HBOT conducted around the world prove it works at the cellular level to help or heal conditions such as TBI/ABI.
Dr. Jason Sonners DC, DIBAK, DCBCN, CHP, is the owner clinic director of Core Therapies Family Wellness Center where he practices functional medicine, taking on complex cases with autoimmune conditions, chronic inflammation, and neurologic dysfunction. He employs various treatment methods to help improve function and tap into the body’s innate ability to heal. Dr. Sonners employs nutrition, detoxification, hyperbaric oxygen, and herbal therapies to improve the health and quality of life of his patients. This book explores the role of Oxygen, our most abundant element, the most important but grossly underutilized nutrient in our body, that when used properly, literally reverses almost all the consequences of chronic disease and reestablishes the regenerative process of our own body.
This book serves as a practical overview of the scientific fundamentals, technical implementation, and therapeutic applications of transcranial photobiomodulation (LED light therapy). This book uses straightforward language and offers practical guidance to help readers quickly develop an understanding of the practical aspects of implementation and its therapeutic applications. Author David Prutchi received his Ph.D. in Engineering from Tel-Aviv University in 1994 and then conducted post-doctoral research at Washington University. Dr. Prutchi has published over thirty papers and holds over eighty patents. He is the author of the book “Design and Development of Medical Electronic Instrumentation – A Practical Perspective of the Design, Construction, and Test of Medical Devices,” “Exploring Quantum Physics Through Hands-On Projects,” “Exploring Ultraviolet Photography: Bee Vision, Forensic Imaging, and Other NearUltraviolet Adventures with Your DSLR,” and “High-Power Near-Infrared Light Treatments for Depression, Dementia, and Other Brain Disorders.”
