Dear friends of BART,
Bart’s birthday is coming up again.
Every time he’d see 03:19 on the clock radio or elsewhere, he’d mug and sing “It’s my birthday, gonna party like it’s my birthday!” We keep up the tradition. Makes us smile.
Bart was a firecracker who always led us on a very merry chase. His tragic accident swept our entire family over the hills and far away. But Bart was also remarkable, with a big, loving heart and an infectious, irresistible, fun-loving nature. Just ask the nearly 500 who attended his Memorial in person or on Zoom. There were scores of testimonials coming from people fighting tough fights, whom he helped personally, often hilariously.
As you may know, our foundation is working to get the Bart Law passed and funded in NYS, making HBOT available to veterans struggling with TBI/PTSD. You can learn more about it on the New York State Senate website: https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2025/S1715
We were blessed to have Bart with us for thirty-seven years, and excited that his legacy may live on in this ground-breaking law. The relatively young veterans struggling with TBI/PTSD are very prone to substance abuse and suicide. They are our brothers and sisters in brain injury. Their lives are tied to ours.
If you reside in New York, please tell your NYS Assemblyperson and Senator that you support NYS A1869/S1715 as this is life-saving legislation. Ask your friends to do the same.
We keep Bart’s memory alive through the work of The BART Foundation. Besides efforts on behalf of veterans, we continue to produce outstanding educational materials for the wider brain injury communities, including our popular webinar series Alternative Therapies for Brain Injury Survivors, which features thought-leaders and is then archived on our website and our YouTube Channel.
The videos, which one would never call mere entertainment, are serious efforts to provide reliable information and realistic hope to those in need. Collectively, they have been viewed over 50,000 times! We swiftly respond to inquiries, including emails and calls from around the country and from places as far-flung as Denmark and Pakistan.

If the spirit moves you, please make a tax-deductible donation in Bart’s honor and memory and enjoy the photo of Bart’s memorial tree, a symbol of enduring love. We used to call him our ‘Spring baby’.
T. Mann’s words have always given comfort, especially after a long, hard winter…”There will be something growing like a flower – Something bursting from the earth again, forever deathless, faithful, coming into life again like April.”
How can we keep from singing?
Your sister and brother in brain injury,
Dayle and Joel
If the spirit moves you, please make a tax-deductible donation to support our mission of researching and advocating for safe alternative therapies for ABI/TBI/PTSD. As a 501(c)(3) educational charity with little overhead, donations go almost entirely to further our mission.
